Building the new permanent exhibition: first day

Greetings to all!

As you already may know, the  BELvue museum is under transformation. The permanent collection has closed its doors for the public past November, and will be replaced by a totally new exhibition.

The new collection will open its doors for visitors on the 21st of July 2016. While waiting, we are open with temporary exhibitions and lots of fun activities (you can find all the activities on our website!)

But why write a blog? Well, because we –the BELvue team- want to share with you –dear reader, dear visitor- what happens behind the closed doors of the 1st and 2nd floor of the museum, which is inaccessible for visitors at this moment. One might think that our day is at a low ebb, but nothing is less true. Stuff happens, people who are involved in the project walk through the building… but this is not visible for visitors.
And so, we wanted to show you how it works, the building of a new permanent exhibition.

And it starts with…a big truck and a ginormous elevator!

The truck transported furniture and items which construct each area, all the equipment to construct the installations and windows, but also panels on which documents and visuals have already been printed.

Everything was delivered on the first and second floor in half a day. All that rests is the puzzling. It might look simple, but there is a tight schedule, and there is work to do. One or two rooms a week, and then, the finishing touches for the gallery of items in the hallways of the 1st and 2nd floor are foreseen.

A story that needs to be followed, so… promise, we will keep you posted on the further developments of the constructions.
