Building the new permanent exhibition: first day

Greetings to all!

As you already may know, the  BELvue museum is under transformation. The permanent collection has closed its doors for the public past November, and will be replaced by a totally new exhibition.

The new collection will open its doors for visitors on the 21^st of July 2016. While waiting, we are open with temporary exhibitions and lots of fun activities (you can find all the activities on our website!)

But why write a blog? Well, because we –the BELvue team- want to share with you –dear reader, dear visitor- what happens behind the closed doors of the 1^st and 2^nd floor of the museum, which is inaccessible for visitors at this moment. One might think that our day is at a low ebb, but nothing is less true. Stuff happens, people who are involved in the project walk through the building… but this is not visible for visitors.

And so, we wanted to show you how it works, the building of a new permanent exhibition.

And it starts with…a big truck and a ginormous elevator!

The truck transported furniture and items which construct each area, all the equipment to construct the installations and windows, but also panels on which documents and visuals have already been printed. 

Everything was delivered on the first and second floor in half a day. All that rests is the puzzling. It might look simple, but there is a tight schedule, and there is work to do. One or two rooms a week, and then, the finishing touches for the gallery of items in the hallways of the 1^st and 2^nd floor are foreseen.

A story that needs to be followed, so… promise, we will keep you posted on the further developments of the constructions.

Opbouw van de nieuwe permanente tentoonstelling: eerste dag

Hallo!

Zoals u misschien al weet, is het BELvue museum te Brussel onder transformatie. De permanente tentoonstelling heeft afgelopen november haar deuren gesloten voor het publiek, en zal vervangen worden door een geheel nieuwe expositie.

De nieuwe tentoonstelling zal haar deuren op 21 juli 2016 openen voor het publiek. In afwachting, zijn wij openen met leuke tijdelijke expo’s en tal van activiteiten. (al de activiteiten zijn terug te vinden op onze website!) 

Maar waarom een blog schrijven? 

Wel, omdat wij –het BELvue-team – met jullie –beste lezers en bezoekers – wilden delen wat er plaats vindt achter de gesloten deuren van de 1^e en 2^e verdieping van het museum, die op dit moment ontoegankelijk zijn voor het publiek. Men zou kunnen denken dat onze dagelijkse routine op een laag pitje staat, maar niets is minder waar. Er gebeuren allerlei dingen, er zijn mensen betrokken bij het project die in het gebouw rondlopen… maar al dit is niet zichtbaar voor het grote publiek.

En voilà, wij wilden u een beetje laten zien hoe het in zijn werk gaat, de montage van een permanente tentoonstelling.

En het begint… met een grote vrachtwagen en een gigantische lift!

In die vrachtwagen, zaten de meubelen die de modules van elke zaal construeren, al het materiaal om de installaties en de vitrines in elkaar te steken, maar ook de panelen bedrukt met documenten en beelden. 

In een halve dag werd alles geleverd voor de 1^e en 2^e verdieping. En nu moet het enkel nog in elkaar worden gestoken. Het lijkt eenvoudig zo, maar de planning is strak, en er is veel werk. Op de planning hebben ze voorzien om ongeveer 1 à 2 zalen per week af te krijgen, nadien moet enkel nog de galerij van objecten in de gangen van de 1^e en 2^e verdieping verzorgd worden.

U ziet, een proces dat gevolgd moet worden dus… beloofd, wij houden u op de hoogte over de vorderingen van de opbouw!

Montage de la nouvelle expo: premier jour

Bonjour à tous !

Comme vous le savez peut-être, le musée BELvue à Bruxelles est en cours de transformation. L’exposition permanente a fermé ses portes au public en novembre dernier, et sera remplacée par une toute nouvelle exposition.

La nouvelle expo ouvrira ses portes au public le 21 juillet 2016. En attendant, nous sommes ouverts avec des chouettes expos temporaires, et plein d’activités. (Toutes les activités ici sur notre site web !)

Mais pourquoi écrire un blog alors ? Et bien parce que nous – l’équipe du BELvue – voulions partager avec vous – chers lecteurs, chers visiteurs – ce qui se passe derrière les portes closes, au 1^er et 2^e étage du musée, actuellement inaccessibles au public. On pourrait penser que notre quotidien au musée tourne un peu au ralenti, mais c’est tout le contraire ! 
Il s’en passe des choses, il y en a des gens impliqués dans le projet et qui parcourent le bâtiment…Mais tout ceci n’est pas visible au grand public.

Alors voilà, on voulait vous montrer un peu à quoi ça ressemble, le montage d’une exposition permanente !

Et ça commence…avec un gros camion et un lift gigantesque !

Dans ce camion, il y avait les meubles qui constitueront les modules de chaque salle, tout le matériel pour construire les installations et les vitrines, mais aussi les panneaux sur lesquels des documents et visuels ont déjà été imprimés.

En une demi-journée, tout était ‘livré’ au 1^er et au 2^e étage. Et maintenant : il n’y a plus qu’à monter ! Bon ça paraît facile comme ça, mais le planning est serré, et il y a du boulot. Ils ont prévu de monter environ 1 à 2 salle-s par semaine, puis il restera encore la galerie d’objets dans les couloirs du 1^er et du 2^e étage.

Affaire à suivre donc… promis, on vous tient au courant de l’avancée du chantier !
