On y est presque !

Ça y est, le montage de l’expo est terminé ! 

On apporte évidemment quelques retouches par-ci par-là pour que ça soit vraiment parfait, mais voilà, on est (presque) prêts à vous accueillir !

C’est donc avec ce post que ce blog s’arrête… On est presque triste de ne plus vous raconter notre vision « en coulisses », mais maintenant nous allons nous concentrer sur tout mettre en place pour l’ouverture, et vous accueillir du mieux possible, vous le méritez !

Nous espérons vraiment vous voir tous nombreux ce 21 juillet, mais aussi tout le week-end qui suivra. Nous avons prévu des chouettes activités, et même des frites ! Alors avec tout ça, vous ne pouvez pas nous refuser une petite visite ! (Ici le programme complet!)

We zijn er bijna !

Ziezo, de opstelling van de tentoonstelling is rond! 

Natuurlijk moet er hier daar nog iets worden bijgestuurd om het echt perfect te maken, maar we zijn dus (bijna) klaar om jullie te ontvangen!

Dit is dus het laatste bericht van deze blog… We vinden het bijna jammer dat we jullie niet meer kunnen vertellen over onze kijk van achter de schermen, maar nu gaan we ons toeleggen op de voorbereidingen voor de opening en jullie zo goed mogelijk ontvangen, want dat verdienen jullie!

We hopen echt dat we jullie talrijk zullen mogen begroeten op 21 juli, maar ook het hele daaropvolgende weekend. We hebben leuke activiteiten voorzien en er zullen zelfs frietjes zijn! Dan kun je ons toch geen bezoekje ontzeggen? (Bekijk hier het volledige programma!)

Tot heel binnenkort dus, beste bezoekers, en deze keer in levende lijve!

We’re nearly there!

That’s it, the installation of the exhibition is done! 

We’ve added some finishing touches here and there of course to make things really perfect, but we’re there, we’re (nearly) ready to welcome you!

So the blog will end with this post... We’re almost sad that we can no longer tell you about our vision “behind the scenes”, but now we are going to concentrate on getting everything in place for the opening, and welcome you as best we can, because you deserve it!

We really do hope to see you in great numbers on 21 July - and the weekend after too. We’ve organised some great activities, and there’ll even be fries! So with all that how can you possibly refuse to pay us a little visit! (see here the full program)

Open de tentoonstelling met ons! We hebben je nodig!

Het is bijna zo ver! Maandenlang hebben we alles voorbereid, maanden hebben we al gewacht en nu is het aftellen echt begonnen… We beleven hier in het museum heel intense dagen.

We leggen de laatste hand aan de tentoonstelling, bevestigen de laatste bijschriften en installeren het multimediamateriaal (films, foto’s en spellen die op de schermen te zien zijn).

Ook de voorbereidingen voor de opening bereiken stilaan de eindfase. En we hopen dat jullie talrijk aanwezig zullen zijn tijdens het weekend van 21 juli om die opening samen met ons te vieren.

Op dit moment is er alleen nog een klein probleempje: de tentoonstelling is gebarricadeerd, afgesloten, letterlijk op slot!

We hebben jullie nodig! Zouden jullie niet graag de tentoonstelling samen met ons willen openen? 

De jongeren van de bende van het BELvue stellen voor om ze allemaal samen te openen! 

Als er geen slot meer hangt, is de tentoonstelling officieel geopend!

We hopen dat alle mensen die de tentoonstelling zullen hebben geopend, maar ook al hun vrienden, familieleden en kennissen op bezoek zullen komen!

Ouvre l’expo avec nous ! On a besoin de toi !

Ça y est, on y est presque ! Des mois qu’on prépare tout, des mois qu’on attend ça, et voilà, le compte à rebours a vraiment commencé… Les journées sont très intenses ici au musée.

Les dernières finitions sont apportées à l’expo, on place les dernières légendes, on installe tout le multimedia (les films, photos et jeux qui seront visibles dans les écrans).

On met la dernière touche finale aux préparatifs de l’ouverture. Et on espère que vous viendrez nombreux le week-end du 21 juillet pour fêter avec nous l’évènement.

Il y a quand même un tout petit problème actuellement : l’expo est barricadée, barrée, littéralement cadenassée ! 

On a besoin de vous ! Ça vous dirait d’ouvrir l’expo avec nous ? 

Les jeunes de la bande du BELvue vous proposent une ouverture collaborative ! 

Le concept est très simple : tu trouves un code, tu viens ouvrir un cadenas. Quand il n’y aura plus de cadenas, l’expo sera officiellement ouverte !

Et on espère que tous les gens qui auront ouvert l’expo, mais aussi tous leurs amis, leur famille et leurs connaissances, viendront la visiter !

Open the exhibition with us! We need you!

That’s it, we’re nearly there! For months we’ve been preparing everything, for months we’ve been waiting, and now the countdown has really started... 

The days are really hectic here at the museum.

The last finishing touches are being put on the exhibition, the last captions are being put up, the multimedia is being installed (films, photos and games that will be visible on the screens).

We are also putting the final finishing touch on the opening preparations. And of course we hope that you will visit in great numbers on the weekend of 21 July to celebrate the event with us.

But there’s a little problem at the moment: the exhibition is closed off, barricaded and literally padlocked 

We need you all! Would you like to open the exhibition with us? 

The younger members of the BELvue team are proposing a cooperative opening! 

The concept is very simple: you find a code, then you come and open a padlock. When there are no more padlocks, the exhibition will be officially opened!

We hope that everyone who opened the exhibition, together with their friends, family and acquaintances, will come and visit it!

Les objets arrivent !

Bonjour à tous!

Cela fait un petit temps qu’il n’y avait pas eu d’article, on s’en excuse, mais on était vraiment très, très occupés ! 

Depuis un mois maintenant, les objets arrivent ! Avec plus de 200 objets dans la galerie, plus les objets qui seront placés dans chaque salle pour illustrer les thèmes, cela n’est pas une mince affaire !!! (Pour ceux qui n’ont pas encore lu le concept de la nouvelle expo, c’est par ici).

Les objets sont très divers : parfois ce sont de toutes petites choses (une montre à gousset, une poignée de porte), parfois ce sont des documents historiques, parfois des boîtes, des créations, des chaussures… Bref, il y a de tout, de toutes les tailles, des objets anciens, des objets très modernes voire futuristes.

Certains objets ont demandé plusieurs heures à être installés, comme par exemple, le bateau ! Pas un vrai bateau grandeur nature, une maquette de bateau. Mais bon, qui fait quand 3m de long !

Quand elle est arrivée, il a fallu encore un gros camion et un lift (eh oui, encore ! > pour ceux qui ont raté les camions et lift précédents, c’est par ici !), ainsi que quatre hommes forts pour l’installer, au millimètre près, tout en la gardant intact. Ils ont mis 1h à essayer de trouver le meilleur angle pour poser la vitrine sans la casser, sans rien bouger à l’intérieur, et sans abîmer ni salir la structure non plus.

Et depuis deux semaines, ça progresse beaucoup tous les jours ! 

On voit les objets, toujours plus d’objets, qui prennent place dans les vitrines. Un travail minutieux, précis, pour un rendu…que nous trouvons magnifique ! 

On espère que vous aussi vous trouverez ça chouette quand vous viendrez visiter !

De voorwerpen komen eraan!

Dag iedereen!

Het is al een tijdje geleden dat er nog een artikel is verschenen, sorry daarvoor, maar we waren echt druk bezig! 

Sinds ongeveer een maand zijn de voorwerpen aan het binnenkomen! 

Met meer dan 200 voorwerpen in de galerij, plus de voorwerpen die in elke zaal zullen worden geplaatst om de thema’s te illustreren, is dat geen klein bier!!! (Voor wie het concept van de nieuwe tentoonstelling nog niet kent, dat vind je hier).

Het gaat om heel verschillende voorwerpen: soms zijn het heel kleine dingen (een zakhorloge, een deurklink), soms historische documenten, soms dozen, werken, schoenen, … Kortom, er is van alles, in alle vormen en grootten, oude voorwerpen, heel moderne en zelfs futuristische voorwerpen.

Voor sommige voorwerpen duurde het enkele uren om ze te plaatsen, zoals bijvoorbeeld de boot! Geen echte boot op ware grootte, maar een schaalmodel van een boot. Maar goed, ook dat is toch nog altijd 3 meter lang!

Toen het model aankwam, was er nog een grote vrachtwagen en een lift (welja, alweer! > voor wie de vorige vrachtwagens en liften heeft gemist, die vind je hier!), en ook vier sterke mannen om de boot tot op de millimeter juist te installeren, zonder hem te beschadigen. Het duurde een uur om de juiste hoek te vinden om de ruit te plaatsen zonder ze te breken, zonder binnenin iets te bewegen en ook zonder de structuur te beschadigen of vuil te maken.

Sinds twee weken gaat het elke dag goed vooruit! 

We zien hoe de voorwerpen – steeds meer voorwerpen – hun plaats krijgen in de vitrines. Dat is een nauwkeurig en precies werk, maar het resultaat… vinden wij ronduit schitterend! 

We hopen dat het jullie ook zal bevallen als jullie op bezoek komen!

The objects are pouring in!

Hi everyone!

It’s been a little while since we last put up an article, and we’re sorry about that of course, but we really have been terribly busy! 

In fact, the objects have been pouring in for a month now! 

And with over 200 objects in the gallery, plus the objects that will be installed in each room to illustrate the themes, it has really been quite a deluge!!! (For anyone who hasn’t yet read the concept of the new exhibition, you can do so over here).

The objects are very diverse: there are very small items (a pocket watch, a door handle), while some are historical documents, and others are boxes, creations, shoes... In short, there’s everything, in all sizes, from old objects to very modern, even futuristic items.

Certain objects needed several hours to be installed, like the boat, for example! Not a real life-size boat, a model of a boat. But one that’s three metres long nevertheless!

When it arrived, a big truck and a hoist were required (yes, another one! > for those who missed the previous trucks and hoists, it’s over here!), as well as four strong guys to install it, down to the nearest millimetre, without a scratch. 

They spent one hour trying to find the best angle to install the display case without breaking it, moving anything inside it, or damaging or dirtying the structure either.

And for two weeks now, things have been progressing nicely every day! 

We see the objects, ever more objects, being set up in the display cases. 

A painstaking and precise job that has given a result that we think is... simply magnificent!
